Katy Perry announced her departure from American Idol as a judge after Season 2, which kicks off on February 18th.
Perry, who has been a judge on the show since 2018, revealed her decision on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, citing her upcoming music festival in Brazil as the reason for leaving.
Her fellow judges, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, were unaware of her decision, but Perry teased that they would find out soon.
Perry confirmed the news on Instagram, sharing her excitement for headlining Rock in Rio and bidding farewell to American Idol.
