A rare 14-karat gold LEGO piece, the Bionicle Golden Kanohi Hau Mask, was found in a warehouse in DuBois, Pennsylvania, and sold for $18,101, much more than expected.
Only 30 of these pieces are believed to exist, with some given to LEGO employees in 2001 and the rest awarded through a contest.
The item was initially listed on shopgoodwill.com for $14.95 and ended up being the most expensive item ever sold by the Goodwill in DuBois, as well as the highest price paid for a LEGO piece.
The funds from the sale will support job creation and opportunities in Clearfield County.
