Consumer Reports has found security flaws in doorbell cameras sold by Amazon and other retailers, allowing bad actors to view footage or control the devices.
The vulnerabilities were discovered in cameras made by Eken Group Ltd., sold by Walmart, Shein, Sears, and Temu.
Walmart has removed the Eken-made doorbells from its platform and is offering refunds.
Amazon, which features the doorbells on its site, has not responded to requests for comment.
Researchers found that the doorbell cameras can be controlled through an app, allowing unauthorized access to footage and locking out owners.
Consumer Reports is calling for better vetting of sellers and products on e-commerce platforms to protect consumers.
