The organizers of the Bay Bridge lights are close to raising the $11 million needed to turn the lights back on after a year of darkness.
The nonprofit art organization Illuminate has raised over $10 million through major gifts and crowdfunding, with only $250,000 left to reach their goal.
The new lights will be brighter and more resilient, with double the number of LEDs facing both sides of the Bay for better visibility.
Once the funds are secured, it could take another year before the lights are fully operational, bringing positive attention back to San Francisco.
