NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft has overcome a memory chip issue that had rendered its data unusable since 2023.

Engineers devised a solution to work around the damaged chip, allowing the spacecraft to return data for the first time in five months.

By breaking the code into sections and storing them in different locations, the team successfully fixed the problem.

This development marks a significant milestone for the spacecraft, which continues to operate more than 15 billion miles from Earth.

The team plans to relocate the rest of the affected software in the coming weeks, enabling the return of science data from the veteran probe.
