The winner of the 1.3 billion dollar Powerball lottery jackpot in Oregon from a couple of months ago, came forward yesterday!
Cheng who is an immigrant from Laos, has been battling cancer for 8 years - and actually had a chemotherapy treatment just last week.
He says he will pay for his cancer treatment bills and share the money with his wife and friend, saying “I will be able to provide for my family and my health. And find a good doctor for myself.”
Cheng split the winnings evenly with his wife and their family friend who chipped in $100 for the tickets that he had purchased, so he’s honoring what he promised and splitting it 3 ways.
He says in the weeks leading up to the drawing, he wrote out numbers for the game on a piece of paper and slept with it under his pillow. He prayed that he would win, saying, “I need some help — I don't want to die yet unless I have done something for my family first.”
