With Thanksgiving just a day a way, Americans are gearing up for the holiday season with a mix of turkey, travel, and shopping.

While most retailers will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, many will open early on Black Friday, the unofficial start of holiday shopping.

Government offices, post offices, courts, and schools will be closed, as well as U.S. stock markets and banks on Thursday.

Major retailers like Walmart, Target, Macy's, Kohl's, Costco, CVS, and Walgreens have varying hours for Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

With a record 79.9 million travelers expected over the Thanksgiving holiday period, AAA projects a significant increase in travel compared to previous years.
