In a press release on its website, the owners of Golden Gate Fields race track in the East Bay say it is set to close at the end of the 2023 racing schedule.
The track has been in operation since 1941.
The Stronach Group says it will then focus on seamlessly transitioning horses from Northern California to facilities in Southern California.
