California mayor wants to offer every person $500 a month with no strings attached.
Michael Tubbs, the mayor of Stockton, California, says he believes there's nothing like cash for getting people through a crisis. And now, he's putting his money where his mouth is.
The 29-year-old official has pledged to pay each resident of Stockton $500 a month through the duration of the coronavirus pandemic. Tubbs says he's taking the unprecedented measure because he feels the $1,200 stimulus check from the federal government won't be enough to get each resident through the crisis.
